Subversive Influence: Mantis Path

Now that everyone has had some time to digest what is happening to the Greatest Clan, I will give my thoughts on what the Mantis should do.

To me, our clan direction should be a combination of all 3 choices.

The Mantis should remain a Great Clan.

During this time, the Tsuruchi should lead the clan as they have been the most loyal of the families.  As the clan would be short of resources during the rebuilding of the Yoritomo, the Tsuruchi looks to extend the clan by meeting with several of the minor clans.  The Tsuruchi, along with the Moshi and the Kitsune, will choice at least 1 and no more than 2 minor clans whom will have an invitation to join the Mantis and be apart of a Great Clan.  My choices for additions would be Badger / Boar and Sparrow.  Possible another family could be added if the Kitsune decide they no longer wish to be apart of the Clan.

What remains of the Yoritomo would need to rebuild the trade empire that we had become.  Without that income, it would be extremely hard to both rebuild and fund the clan.  Taking the merchant power away from the Daidoji, the Ide, and the Yasuki would be quite the task especially given our clan’s relationship with the Crab but could be rather interesting.  Now, I don’t think it should completely define what the Yoritomo are but koku is a necessary evil.  A subtheme I’d be OK with but NOT as a main theme.

As far as the Ronin / no Ronin question goes, I was also a big fan of Toturi’s Army during the Clan Wars.  Ronin have always been interesting to me.  The Mantis have had great relationships with Ronin in the past and I don’t see any reason to remove them from the equation now.

That is my choice.

I hope that I can convince my Mantis brothers & sisters for this to be the destiny of Lord Yoritomo.
