Journal of the Tiger: Daggers

Journal of the Tiger

In the month of the Dog in the Year 2016 by the Isawa Calendar

This is normally a wonderful time of year.  Usually I am in Indianapolis this time of year for Gen*Con but do to L5R not being around this year, I decided to skip this year’s event.

I regret that decision now as I both really need a vacation AND I’m missing all of people I’ve met playing L5R who are at Gen*Con.

I began concentration on trying to find pieces for a cosplay for next year’s Gen*Con.

The hardest part that I have been looking to get made is a mempo that represents a tiger or rakshasa like the one below.  I’ve asked around, but so far I have not found anyone to take on the project (before you ask, I have attempted to contact the David and Emily Winner but I never received any response from either, so I assume that they are not interested).

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

I also began to plan for next year’s Gen*Con.

I planned to bring my sister along for her first Gen*Con (she was a former Crane player).

I was so excited until I pulled up the dates for next year’s con.  I then I saw a MAJOR problem.Banner at Gen*Con 2016

This is the list of dates for the rest of the Gen*Con from now until 2020 with next years in bold face text:

August 4 – 7, 2016
August 17 – 20, 2017
August 2 – 5, 2018
August 1 – 4, 2019
July 30 – August 2, 2020

For those who do not know, I happen to work in IT field in Higher Education.  According to my estimation, I will not be able to make Gen*Con 2017. Next year’s event falls on dates that, unless something radically changes, will be the week before my college starts back to classes.  This means that I will be not be able to take any time off that week.

Of all years, why did Gen*Con have to fall on those days?  WHY?!

I simply cannot miss the relaunch.

This saddens me beyond belief that I might miss this of ALL events.

Daggers, man.
